Founded in 2019 and based in California, US, and founded in 2019 by Daniel Sobek, Sukanta Bhattacharyya, T. Don Tilley, and Thiago Figueiredo, 1s1 Energy manufactures water electrolysis systems for hydrogen production using renewable sources of energy. In November 2022, 1s1 Energy raised USD 2. 15 million in seed funding co-led by investor Faber and returning investor CSN Inova Ventures, with participation from Asiri, Ecoa Capital, Aquarius Capital Management, and Gibson Lane GmbH.
The company uses advanced material science to create and provide PEM (Proton Exchange Membrane) water electrolysis system material technology to assist in reducing carbon emissions in heavy industry and heavy-duty transportation, including maritime shipping. Instead of using fossil fuels, the electrolysis systems generate green hydrogen using renewable energy. The company intends to use the November 2022 funding to finish up planning paperwork for the hydrogen plant, and to lay the foundations for establishing a green hydrogen R&D program.
