Based in Eindhoven, Netherlands and founded in 2013 by co-founders Christian de Kok and Karsten Nilsen, CleverCoin, Inc. cryptocurrency exchange platform that enabled users to buy, sell, and store bitcoin securely and conveniently. In June 2016, Kraken, a portfolio company of G1 Venture Capital, Hummingbird Ventures, Blockchain Capital, Digital Currency Group, Trammell Venture Partners, Money Partners Group Co. , Ltd.

and SBI Investment, acquired CleverCoin, Inc. CleverCoin allows users to deposit funds via SEPA transfers, credit cards, and iDEAL. The software emphasized security, implementing multiple layers of protection including two-factor authentication and continuous system monitoring. Additionally, the platform operated as a peer-to-peer exchange, meaning users traded directly with one another, which helped ensure competitive pricing.

The platform also offered rapid euro withdrawals and deposits.
