Based in Brazil, founded in 1989 by Gilberto Lopes and Tadeu Fachetti and led by CEO Thiago Picolo, Hortigil Hortifruti S. A. is a fresh food retail store operator with 73 stores. In 2016, Partners Group acquired a 40% minority stake in Hortifruti from BR Investimentos.
Then in 2018, Partners Group acquired the remaining 60% majority stake. As part of the transaction, Gonzalo Fernandez-Castro, Managing Director and Head of Latin American Private Equity at Partners Group, joined the board of Hortifruti. In 2021, Americanas SA agreed to fully acquire Hortigil Hortifruti S. A.
from Partners Group.
