Based in Sao Paulo, Brazil, and founded in 2016, Athena Saúde Espírito Santo Holding S.A. (Athena Saúde) is a verticalized health operator that invests in hospitals and dental healthcare. The company has expanded its network mainly through acquisitions, starting with Grupo Med Imagem in October 2017, which consisted of 4 hospitals and 2 traditional health insurance operators in the region. In June 2018, the company acquired Vitória Apart Hospital, which marked the beginning of Athena Saúde's operations in the southeastern region of Brazil. The following year, it acquired SAMP, a health plan operator, in February 2019. Athena Saúde continued its expansion within the same year, with the acquisition of a neuro-cardiovascular exam center in March, and, in April, the acquisition of another clinic in the city of Teresina, Brazil. In September 2019, the Athena Group started operations in the southern region of the country through the acquisition of the Multivida Group, composed of Santa Rita Saúde and Bom Samaritano Hospital in Maringá, Brazil. In June 2020, Athena Saúde signed an asset acquisition agreement with DentalPar, operator of dental plans in the state of Espírito Santo, Brazil, that represented the expansion of its operations in the area of dentistry. As of March 2021, Athena Saúde Espírito Santo Holding S.A. consists of 5 operators, 47 clinics and emergency services, and 9 hospitals across Brazil and employs more than 4,000 employees that are being led by its CEO, André Luiz M Oliveira. Through its hospitals and clinics, Athena Saúde offers complete care in all medical specialties, with consultations, exams, diagnoses, surgeries, maternity services, a 3 Tesla magnetic resonance imaging system, and various medical treatments. Moreover, it has health insurance plans that offer support with emergency and emergency rescue teams and a complete network of medical services. In March 2021, Athena Saúde announces the expansion and modernization of the brand and slogan of its health insurance brand, Humana Saúde, which is more aligned with the new parameters of the company. The company plans to be listed on the Brazilian stock exchange B3, in May 2021 and will be trading under the ticker symbol ATEA3.
