Based in Gurgaon, India, and founded in 2013, Blinkit operates an online marketplace for consumers to purchase grocery products and home appliances. The firm was founded by CEO Albinder Dhindsa and COO Saurabh Kumar, both having degrees in Civil Engineering. In June 2022, Zomato, a portfolio company of 408 Ventures, Abu Dhabi Investment House, Adit Ventures, Ant Financial, Baidu, Baillie Gifford, Benchmark Capital, Bennett Coleman & Co., and many others acquired Blinkit from Abu Dhabi Capital Group, Apoletto, Bennett Coleman & Co., DAOL Investment, DST Global, Grofers International Pte Ltd., InnoVen Capital, SB Investment Advisers, Sequoia Capital, SoftBank Group and Tiger Global Management for INR 44.47 billion in an all-stock deal. Blinkit provides a digital marketplace that markets consumer goods such as grocery products, home appliances, accessories, fashion wears, beauty cosmetics, personal, infant, and pet care products. The firm also sells fruits and vegetables and delivers the products ordered to the consumer's address. Grofers provides over 3,000 products at prices lower than supermarkets every day.
