Founded in 2020 and based in California, US, C-Zero, Inc., is a developer of natural gas decarbonization technology that uses thermocatalysis to transform natural gas into clean hydrogen and solid carbon. Zach Jones is the president and CEO of the company. In August 2024, CZero, Inc. raised USD 5 million in venture funding led by new investor Energy Capital Ventures. The company operates with a mission to explore the zero-emission energy embedded in natural gas. C-Zero, Inc., is a developer of decarbonization technology named methane pyrolysis which converts natural gas into hydrogen and solid carbon. While the normal combustion of natural gas only generates greenhouse gas carbon dioxide, and water as a by-product; C-Zero’s innovative technology results in the generation of hydrogen at a fairly low-cost, and solid carbon-which the company aims to convert as a market valuable by-product. The hydrogen generated from the process could be used as an effective decarbonizing option in a variety of existing applications such as hydrogen production for fuel cell vehicles, thereby lowering C02 emissions into the atmosphere. The company is also developing a drop-in decarbonization system that is capable to reduce carbon dioxide emissions when incorporated between the existing natural gas infrastructure and industrial natural gas consumers. C-Zero, Inc. plans to utilize its fund to support the production of hydrogen without emissions utilizing natural gas.
