Founded in 2018 by Justus Lauten, and based in Cologne, Germany, Justus Lauten GmbH, trading under the name Foodforecast, fka werksta.tt is an artificial intelligence platform that provides a SaaS (Software as a Service) sales forecast solution for the food industry in order to reduce food wastage. In September 2024, Foodforecast raised EUR 3 million in venture funding co-led by new investors Scalehouse Capital and Future Food, with participation from returning investors Blue Horizon and Aeronaut Invest GmbH. Other unspecified investors also participated in the round. The company provides software that uses internal and external operational data, as well as machine learning and deep learning models, to predict a company's sales outcome and help them manage their inventory, accordingly, reducing waste. Furthermore, the company provides mobile apps through which businesses can set individual frame parameters and predict sales in various scenarios, as well as enable food ordering via apps. The company will use the September 2024 funding to expand its operations and reach a wider market in the European food retail sector.
