Based in Ngaparou, Senegal, and founded in 2019 by Isseu Diop Sakho, Mburu is a food tech company that manufactures and distributes bread and pastries produced with local grains. In May 2021, Mburu raised USD 463,000 in venture funding from new investors WE! Fund and WIC Capital. Some of the firm’s partners include KFW, Onu Femmes, Fonsis, GIZ, WE! Fund, etc. MBURU is an African bakery and pastry company that specializes in manufacturing bread, pastries, donuts, cakes, and drinks from local Senegalese farmers' millets, maize, sorghum, tubers, seasonal fruits, etc. The company also works with self-employed women who distribute the products via a network of kiosks (local shops).
