Established in 2021 and based in Tokyo, Japan, Octa Robotics Inc. engages in the development of robotics technology and solutions that assist with movement and linking for better mobility, security, and device management. The company was co-founded in 2021 by Cota Nabeshima and Koji Maekawa, both have the experience working at another robotech company CYBERDYNE, a company listed on the Tokyo Stock Exchange. The company’s advisor, Yasuo Kuniyoshi, is a professor at the University of Tokyo, and the director of the Next Generation Artificial Intelligence Research Center. In October 2021, the company reached partnership with the University of Tokyo FoundX, a university-backed program providing support to tech startups. In April 2022, the company reached partnership with another university-backed supportive program – University of Tokyo IPC 1stRound, also known as Todai IPC. In July 2022, the company was adopted for a demonstration experiment for WHILL Autonomous Driving Mobility Service at Narita Airport Terminal 2, and later in July, the company was entrusted by Panasonic Holdings for the international standardisation promotion work. In October 2022, the company raised JPY 100 million from ANRI, a venture capital company based in Japan. Octa Robotics provides services of standardisation support, prototype development and component production. Specifically, the company can help customers to standardise its enterprise’s technology, develop prototypes that meet customer’s needs and produce component for the company’s self-developed products. As announced, the company will develop a new product, LCI, which will be an interface system that enables robots to move between physical obstacles by linking the robots to the construction. The company also announced it will start a new study to standardise maps by using markers for self-location and develop a new system that can improve service robots’ efficiency for hotels, called Robofure environment.
