In 2021, the company was co-founded by a tech company management veteran Alex Fielding, the former co-founder of Apple Steve Wozniak, and a space environmentalist Dr. Mriba Jah. The company was established with the mission to reduce risks caused by uncontrolled debris in Earth orbit. In 2022, the company launched its platform to monitor traffic in space, which originate from a software program created by Jah at the University of Texas at Austin. The company's main product is a platform called Privateer Wayfinder, a space traffic monitoring system, whose most data is publicly available. The company debut the platform in March 2022, aiming to build it as the biggest space database. The company plans to add new features to the platform such as build a catalog so detailed it will not only show where a piece of spaceborne garbage is, but also tell users what shape and size it is and where the garbage came from. The company also plans to deploy a series of satellites that can use sensor to capture pieces of debris.
