The company started business in 1951 by providing meals in Japan Airlines domestic flights and in the Fukuoka Airport. It established the Royal Bakery and sold bread and other pastry in Fukuoka. Two years later, it began its first restaurant, also in Fukuoka city. In 1954, it started making and selling its own ice cream. In 1962, it started making frozen meals. It became listed in the Fukuoka Stock exchange in 1978, and the Osaka stock exchange (section 2) in the following year. It achieved being listed in the Tokyo Stock exchange section 2 two years later in 1981. It was finally listed in section 1 of both Osaka and Tokyo Stock exchanges in 1983. The company has established several subsidiaries and opened several restaurants over the years. As of 2016, the company has a total of 200 restaurants, in and outside Japan. The company group has business in 5 segments: the restaurant business, the contract business, the in-flight meal business, the hotel business and the food product business.
