B. Riley Alternatives, formerly known as Dialectic Capital, was a long/short equity hedge fund founded by Luke and John Fichthorn in June 2003. In April 2017, B. Riley Financial acquired the rights to manage many of Dialectic Capital’s hedge funds, while its founder John Fichthorn has been named head of alternative investments for the asset management division of the California-based financial services company.
